Salwa Abd-Allah, born in 1964, is an African-American activist, a community leader and an educator for decades. She has a tireless love for Qur'anic study. She made Hajj and `Umrah (the main pilgrimage and lesser pilgrimage) and traveled to Egypt, West Africa and throughout North America as a lifelong student.
She has edited five publications and several newsletters. She has published in the Journal of Religion and Education. She was the principal of Masjid Al-Quran's Sister Clara Mohammed School for over five years.
She has worked in Islamic education for over 25 years and has worked with the Boston and Cambridge school systems as well as the Council of Islamic Schools of North America (CISNA).
She has served as adjunct faculty at both New Hampshire and Springfield College teaching "Social Change" and is the CEO of the American Ijtihaad Institute.
She is currently also on the Board of Directors of the Islamic Society of Boston.
